As the 21st National BBQ Week arrives we thought it the perfect opportunity to introduce Black Garlic to your BBQ this year.
With Balsajo becoming a popular ingredient in even more dishes we took a look around to see who has been making the most of it on the BBQ and to share the great ideas with you.

Black Garlic Burgers
One of the most popular ways for using Balsajo Black Garlic on the BBQ is to add it into your burger mixture. Simply add a few finely chopped cloves to minced beef, season and shape into patties for a great unami flavour to your burger.
Black Garlic Chicken Saté
A delicious recipe where Black Garlic adds an extra depth of flavour.
Black Garlic Mayonnaise
Add a few mashed cloves into mayonnaise for a delicious condiment, perfect for adding to a Burger or serving alongside as a dip.
Black Garlic Butter
Mix unsalted butter with some mashed black garlic cloves, chopped fresh parsley and chives and season with salt and pepper, spoon onto parchment paper and roll into a log shape and place in the refrigerator. This is perfect served on top of steak just off the BBQ or melted over tasty new potatoes or charred corn on the cob.
Black Garlic Marinade
This marinade is perfect with prawns, poultry, beef and pork, it’s a versatile marinade that tastes even better when used on the BBQ.
In a saucepan combine;
125ml rice wine
60ml hoisin sauce
3 tbsp honey
80ml soy sauce
6-8 cloves Black Garlic
1/2 tsp Chinese 5 spice powder
Heat for 10-15 minutes until thickened, allow to cool and then use as required to marinade.
Of course you can always add one of our Black Garlic Bulbs to the BBQ allow to warm and then enjoy snacking on the delicious cloves.
